Introducing our eager style pioneer and very first Wedgwood Tastemaker, Alex Eagle. Alex kindly let us explore her gallery space Soho loft apartment and shoot some questions her way, so we left no coaster or saucer unturned to get to know her a little better.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no better person to formally introduce Alex than herself, so here it is, straight from the Eagle\u2019s mouth:<\/p>\n
\u201cMy name is Alex Eagle and I live in Soho, London. I am the Creative Director of Alex Eagle Studio and The Store X. I live between London and Oxfordshire, I\u2019m obsessed with Italy and the colour green and spend most of my time working \u2013 but when work is choosing fabrics and sourcing antiques, it doesn\u2019t feel like work at all!\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking around Alex\u2019s lateral London loft, it\u2019s clear to see that lighting is important to her. \u201cLighting is key. I always prefer low lighting to ceiling lighting, but regardless when there\u2019s no natural light to play with, I want it to be warm and inviting and never too bright \u2013 I love candles.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFresh pots of coffee and tea are always inviting, and plants create good energy (especially in Central London).\u201d<\/p>\n
With such an open plan and blank canvas, it\u2019d be easy for someone to get lost when styling this space, but not Alex: \u201cI am always moving things around to freshen up spaces and give new boosts of energy, so it can be a bit different every time a friend comes to visit. A vinyl record playing makes the home feel lived in and full of atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s difficult to put your finger on Alex\u2019s main inspiration when it comes to her unique home d\u00e9cor, with such a wide range of mix and match objects about her home: \u201cGo with what you love. My philosophy is if you love it, it will always work together. Don\u2019t worry about matching as in the end the most cohesive thing in the home is that you love every object.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMixing and mismatching patterns and styles can make a space feel unique and personal to you \u2013 don\u2019t rush or be swayed by fashion, collect things slowly and over time that you truly love over what you think you should like.\u201d<\/p>\n

We asked Alex what Wedgwood really meant to her in her life. \u201cI grew up with the Peter Rabbit plates and cereal bowls,\u201d she remembers with a smile.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is so wonderful that the Wedgwood craftsmanship is so anchored in age old traditions \u2013 bringing old designs into a new era that is respectful to their heritage \u2013 they are a quintessentially English national treasure.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked about her unique interior style, Alex replies: \u201cMy philosophy is to mix and collect things you love which aren\u2019t always consistent with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
